The NOAA Office of Coast Survey has created several national-scale, standardized data sets based on several Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and Open Geospatial Consortium standards. Such national-scale data sets reduce the costs associated with collecting and processing data, while increasing usability and applicability.
